With the most years of experience in memory care, Vista Cove at Rancho Mirage staff members provide compassionate and personalized services to each resident with cognitive impairment. With the leadership of our Executive Director, Director of Resident Services, a Medical Director and Director of Activities, who combined have more than 100 years’ experience, our team is trained and mentored in caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

Floyd Rhoades, MDiv

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

After serving as a PCUSA minister for more than seven years, Floyd Rhoades embarked on a career as a long-term care executive and worked in various leadership capacities with national companies. His experience includes working with public, private and new start-up organizations as well as leading an initial public offering before becoming the CEO of Vista Cove Senior Living, a company he and his investment partners founded in 2004. In addition to his duties as Chief Executive Officer of Vista Cove at Rancho Mirage, Floyd is a part-time pastor of SERVE Ministries at the Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church. He received his BA from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and M. Div. degree from the McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. Floyd’s interests include volunteering in his community. He is past chair of the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission Board of Directors (2010-2018), a member of the Board of Directors for Riverside County Desert Mental Health and an Advancement Board Member of the California State University, Palm Desert Campus.


Jack Poyfair, LVN

Executive Director

A Licensed Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) Administrator, Jack Poyfair, LVN, is the Executive Director of Vista Cove at Rancho Mirage. Prior to his Executive Director position which he started in September 2004, Jack worked for the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice in Palm Desert and Southcentral Foundation Family Medicine Clinic in Anchorage, Alaska. Jack decided to become nurse at an early age because of his experience in watching a hospice nurse take care of his father.  He received his LVN license from the Emily Griffith Opportunity School in Denver, Colorado. He enjoys cooking, hiking and spending time with his rescue dog, Denver.

Rebecca Giordano, LVN

Director of Resident Services

The Director of Resident Services for Vista Cove at Rancho Mirage, Rebecca Giordano is a licensed vocational nurse and is certified as a Residential Care for the Elderly (RCFE) Administrator. She received her nursing license from Concorde Career Institute in North Hollywood, California. Rebecca has worked in almost all areas of nursing since 1997 and has always preferred working with geriatric patients.  Her grandfather had Alzheimer’s, so her experience with helping him led to a career of providing care and support for individuals with memory loss and their family members. She joined Vista Cove in July 2005, which was her first job in an assisted living setting. She loves to spend time with her family, travel and entertain.

Caesar Julian, DO, MD

Medical Director

Caesar Julian, DO, MD, began working as the Medical Director of Vista Cove at Rancho Mirage when it opened in 2004. He received his doctoral degree for osteopathic medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Pennsylvania and medical degree from California College of Medicine in Los Angeles. In addition, Dr. Julian is certified as a medical director in post-acute and long-term care medicine. He worked for many years in long-term care and also had a private practice in family medicine. When asked about why he’s stayed with Vista Cove for so many years, he explained, “The owner has dedicated his life to providing the best long-term care for individuals with Alzheimer’s and other related Dementia and the staff are stable, reliable and dedicated to their work.” During his free time, he enjoys reading, writing and music.

Shannon Sawicki

Director of Life Enrichment Activity Program


Shannon Sawicki joined Vista Cove at Rancho Mirage as the Director of the Life Enrichment Activity Program (LEAP) in July 2019. With more than 20 years' experience in geriatrics and working with patients with chronic physical and cognitive illnesses, Shannon is certified as an activities director, as an ACE senior fitness specialist and in gerontology. Her previous experience includes serving as the Vibrant Life Director at Mission Hills; Senior Programs Coordinator/Fitness Instructor for the City of Morro Bay; and Fitness/Lifestyle Coordinator/ Therapy Liaison at Plymouth Village. With a passion for working with seniors, Shannon also enjoys camping and listening to live music with her husband. 

Joel Fosberg

Director of Maintenance

Joel Fosberg began working for Vista Cove at Rancho Mirage as the Director of Maintenance in September 2018. With an Associates Degree in Theology, Joel took classes at Simpson University, California Baptist University, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and the University of Montana. He has experience in building and restoring buildings from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Joel enjoys his job at Vista Cove because "where else can you fix a bathroom, put a fresh coat of paint on a resident's room and sandblast concrete walkways to make them smooth for the residents to walk on--all in one day." He enjoys white water rafting, fishing, staining glass and exploring the desert and woods. 

Stacy Slankard

Business Office Manager

Stacy Slankard has worked for Vista Cove at Rancho Mirage as the Business Office Manager since October 2013. With experience as a real estate and escrow officer and coursework in business management, accounting, math and English at the College of the Desert, Stacy co-owned and served as vice president of Indio Automotive & Electric for 17 years. When asked about her work at Vista Cove, Stacy says, “Even though I worked in a different industry, I felt I could use my past experience to be successful in the Vista Cove position. I’ve found my job to be rewarding as I’m helping to make a positive difference in the lives of the residents and their family members.” Her hobbies include cooking, movies, automobiles and home improvement.

Anita Correa

Manager of Dining Services

Passionate about cooking, Anita Correa is the Manager of Dining Services at Vista Cove at Rancho Mirage. Anita has been with Vista Cove since October 2005. When asked about her career, Anita says, “I love to cook and see the Vista Cove residents enjoy the meals I’ve prepared. I know each of them by name and they know me. Vista Cove is my family away from home.” Her special interests include hiking, art and being outdoors.

Adriana Quiroz

Medical Technician

Adriana Quiroz joined Vista Cove at Rancho Mirage in October 2000 as a Med Tech. She received her communications degree from the Universidad de Cuautitlάn Izcalli (UCI) in Mexico City, Mexico. Prior to her position with Vista Cove, she worked as a private caregiver. She credits this experience as helping  her to gain knowledge about Alzheimer’s and the impact it has on the people who have memory impairment and their families. Adriana enjoys working with the residents at Vista Cove as she considers them to be part of her family. “Vista Cove has always felt like a second home,” she says. She likes to read, write and listen to music.

Dolores Duarte

Medical Technician

Dolores Duarte began working for Vista Cove at Rancho Mirage in July 2004 as a Caregiver. She was promoted to the Med Tech position in July 2018. Her experience includes serving as a caregiver when her mother was diagnosed with cancer. When asked about her long tenure with Vista Cove, she replied, “I enjoy working with the residents and their family members and using my knowledge and experience to help make a difference.”

Dahlia Mendoza

Medical Technician

Dahlia Mendoza began working at Vista Cove at Rancho Mirage in 2010 as a Caregiver as was promoted to the Med Tech position in January 2019. With a deep passion for helping the elderly, Dahlia has been in the caregiving field since 2000. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music and dancing. 

Berenis Padron

Day Program Coordinator 

Berenis Padron joined Vista Cove at Rancho Mirage three years ago as a Caregiver and was promoted to the Day Program Coordinator position in 2019. A graduate of Desert Mirage High School, Berenis loves being a Caregiver and says she has learned so much from the residents. "I learn something new each day and my experience has helped me both professionally and personally," she said. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her children. 

Pat Kaplan

Consultant and Alzheimer's Advocate

Pat Kaplan is a co-founder of Alzheimers Coachella Valley, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, whose mission is to provide charitable services and support for persons with impaired cognition. Pat received her BA in Sociology from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington and Gerontology Certificate from the University of California at Riverside and is licensed by the State of California as an Administrator for Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly. She also works as a consultant with Vista Cove at Rancho Mirage, providing Dementia training for staff and assisting with community relations initiatives.
